Sint Maarten to Dedicate September 2026 to UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Government of Sint Maarten has announced it will dedicate the entire month of September 2026 to raising public awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative aims to educate residents about sustainable development and encourage community participation in building a more sustainable future. The campaign will be coordinated through the Department of Communication (DCOMM) and is expected to include public outreach and informational programming throughout the month. Sint Maarten joins other nations in aligning local governance efforts with the global UN sustainability framework. The SDGs cover a broad range of issues including climate action, clean energy, reduced inequality, and responsible consumption — all of particular relevance to small island developing states like Sint Maarten. The monthlong spotlight reflects a broader government commitment to integrating international sustainability standards into local policy and public life.
