Drunk driver hits and flees after striking elderly pedestrian near Carnival Village

In the early hours of Saturday morning, around 12:15 a.m., a serious hit-and-run incident occurred on Bernhardstraat in Aruba, directly in front of Carnival Village. Bystanders heard a loud impact and witnessed an elderly pedestrian being thrown into the air before hitting the ground. The driver, believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the collision, fled the scene without stopping to render aid. The victim, an elderly person, was left in critical condition following the crash. The incident raises serious concerns about drunk driving and pedestrian safety in a high-traffic area, particularly during nighttime hours. Authorities are investigating the case, and the search for the fleeing driver is presumably underway.
