FUTURO Leader: Wage Cap Law Has Driven Away Local Professionals

Gerlien Croes, leader of the opposition party FUTURO, has voiced serious concerns about the consequences of the Landsverordening normering topinkomens (LNT), Aruba's law that caps top salaries in the public sector. Speaking after a Parliament session dedicated to the topic, Croes argued that the salary ceiling introduced under the Wever-Croes administration has driven many qualified local professionals away from public service. He contends that the law, intended to curb excessive executive compensation, has had the unintended effect of making government and semi-government positions unattractive to experienced Aruban talent. The departure of skilled professionals, Croes warns, undermines the quality and efficiency of public institutions on the island.
