High-voltage equipment burns in Cura Cabai, cutting power to large areas twice

A high-voltage transformer burned at Cura Cabai in Aruba on Saturday evening around 7 p.m., causing widespread power outages across a large portion of the island. Areas affected included those above the bridge, Pos Chikito, Savaneta, and as far as San Nicolas. Elmar, Aruba's utility company, dispatched crews immediately after the outage was reported. The failure knocked out power on two separate occasions, suggesting either a recurring fault or a complication during the restoration process. The incident disrupted daily life for residents across several communities in the southeastern part of the island. Elmar crews worked to restore service, though the double outage raised concerns about the reliability of the affected equipment.
