Bonaire Grand Carnival Parade 2027

Bonaire's Grand Parade is the Sunday-afternoon centrepiece of a Carnival tradition that stays deliberately community-scale — smaller than Aruba's or Curaçao's, but genuinely all-island. The whole population turns out along the Kralendijk waterfront: family troupes, school groups, informal roadmarch trucks. There's no separate tourist track; the parade is the community's own celebration and visitors are welcome as observers rather than a target audience. Free to watch, family-friendly, walking-distance from most of Kralendijk.

The parade steps off around noon and runs 3-4 hours end to end — much shorter than Aruba's or Curaçao's parades. Expect 10-15 troupes in family/school-scale groups (not stadium-scale), one or two roadmarch trucks, and lots of informal street dancing. The tempo is calypso and soca, with kids' groups mixing in tumba. Vendors along the waterfront sell fresh coconuts, keshi yena, sopi di piska, and cold Amstel Bright. No judging, no ticketed grandstand — it's a purely community event.

Best free viewing: anywhere along the Kralendijk waterfront (the boulevard between Karel's Beach Bar and Wilhelmina Park). The whole route is walkable end to end in under 20 minutes, so mid-parade there's no real need to commit to one spot — locals drift along the route. Arrive 30-45 minutes before start; the shaded terraces of waterfront restaurants fill up early. Bring water, sunscreen and small bills. No street closures north of the town centre, so you can drive in and park at the north end.
