Gran Marcha Curaçao 2027

Gran Marcha is the crown jewel of Curaçao's Carnival — a parade tradition unbroken since the 1970s, born out of the Willemstad neighbourhoods and now the single largest cultural gathering on the island. FDKK has led the organizational side since the early 1980s, coordinating dozens of adult groups, road bands, and mobile sound systems each year.

Expect a full-day event: staging areas open around 10 AM, the parade itself steps off in Willemstad around noon and runs into early evening. Costumed adult groups dominate — feathered headpieces, sequined bodysuits, choreographed sections — interspersed with roadmarch trucks blasting the year's winning tumba on repeat. Food carts, beer vendors and portable bars line the route.

Best viewing is along Roodeweg and near the finish at Rif Fort — most spots are free, first-come-first-served. Arrive 45-60 minutes before the parade starts to claim a curbside spot; the shaded east side fills up first. No tickets needed. Bring water, sunscreen, and small bills for street food. Public transport is limited on parade day; plan to walk from Punda or use a rideshare with drop-off outside the closed zone.
