The Dutch Municipal Health Services (GGD) will continue providing healthcare to nearly 20,000 children living in asylum seeker centers for the next three years. The announcement comes after growing concerns about who would take over this responsibility starting in October, when the existing arrangement was set to expire. The GGD has been the primary provider of medical and public health services to children in asylum reception facilities across the Netherlands, including those connected to the Dutch Caribbean. The continuation of this arrangement brings clarity and stability to a vulnerable population that depends on consistent access to healthcare.
