Dozens Dead, Scores Missing After Ferry Sinks Off Guyana Coast

At least 27 people have been killed after a ferry sank off the northwest coast of Guyana in the early hours of Sunday morning. The accident occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday, and search and rescue operations are ongoing. As many as 83 people remain unaccounted for following the sinking, raising fears the death toll could climb significantly. The vessel was operating in South American waters when it went down under circumstances not yet fully detailed in initial reports. The scale of the disaster makes it one of the deadliest maritime accidents in the region in recent memory. Authorities and rescue teams are working to locate survivors and recover victims from the water.
