Former CITRO rescue volunteer dies in boating accident off Curaçao

Krik Parrel, an 83-year-old former volunteer and retired captain of CITRO, Curaçao's maritime rescue organization, died Saturday in a boating accident at the entrance to Fuikbaai on the southern coast of Curaçao. The incident claimed the life of a man who had dedicated years of service to saving others at sea. CITRO is a well-known volunteer rescue organization in Curaçao that responds to maritime emergencies. Details surrounding the exact circumstances of the accident have not been fully disclosed in initial reports. Parrel's death represents a significant loss for the local maritime and rescue community, given his long history of service. Fuikbaai is a bay on the southeastern side of Curaçao, an area frequented by boaters and divers. No additional casualties have been reported in connection with the accident.
